Last May, our campus at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara came alive with joy, laughter, and vibrant color as Jacquelyn and Ivan celebrated their wedding with us. Their springtime celebration was a perfect reflection of their love—warm, joyful, and beautifully curated in every way.
With sunlight streaming into our historic sanctuary and the courtyard bursting with life, Jacquelyn and Ivan’s wedding day unfolded with heartfelt emotion and personalized charm. It was an honor to be the setting for such a meaningful milestone, made even more special by an outstanding team of vendors who brought the couple’s vision to life.
From First Look to Last Dance
The day began just a few blocks away at the Cheshire Cat Inn, where Jacquelyn and her bridal party were styled by Corinne and Laura, whose talent and warmth made the getting-ready experience relaxing and fun. The energy grew as guests arrived, and by the time the ceremony began at 3:30 pm, our Sanctuary was aglow with spring light and love.
Tricia Maldonado of Tricia Dahlgren Events crafted a seamless timeline for the day, allowing each moment—from the emotional first look to the final dance—to unfold effortlessly. Jacquelyn and Ivan’s ceremony was tender and heartfelt, surrounded by family, friends, and the timeless beauty of our Sanctuary space.
A Colorful Celebration Comes to Life
Jacquelyn and Ivan embraced a cheerful color palette of red, orange, pink, and yellow—bringing a festive, joyful energy to every detail. The transformation of our venue was remarkable, thanks to thoughtful design and curated décor by Vintage Owl Rentals, who added meaningful touches like a vintage trunk for cards, wooden risers, a mirrored seating chart, and textured linens that brought personality to the setting.
Lush floral arrangements by Pretty Little Posies enhanced the romantic and playful atmosphere, with blooms placed throughout the space in woven baskets and vibrant centerpieces. From custom signage to personalized matchbooks at each place setting, every element reflected the couple’s vision and attention to detail.
A Dream Team of Creative Professionals
It was a joy to work alongside Tricia and her incredible team, whose experience and heart-centered approach made the entire day flow with ease. As Tricia shared, “It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Joanie Bear and the USSB team—they were welcoming and hands-on, helping us create a space that felt both elegant and inviting.”
Photographer Brianna Diamond captured each special moment with authenticity and warmth, while Buena Weddings created a cinematic highlight film to help Jacquelyn and Ivan relive the magic for years to come.
During the reception, guests struck playful poses in David Bautista’s photo booth, sipped signature cocktails crafted by the always-charismatic Aaron “Elvis” Rivers, and danced into the evening to the high-energy sounds of DJ Darla Bea. The celebration was topped off with a delicious cake and sweet treats from Crush Cakes, bringing the night to a joyful and delicious close.
